Indigenous Day of Remembrance

7th Annual Indigenous Day of Remembrance

Posted by Iukibuel on October 11, 2014 at 12:00 AM

October 12th, 2014 is the date that once again local Indigenous peoples and allies gather by Merchants' Gate @ Columbus Circle to remember the history and legacy of the Indigenous peoples of the Americas and beyond. 1492 began the devastating genocidal campaign against Indigenous people worldwide. Oct 12 we gather in ritual, word, song, and celebration, to honor the blood memory of the ancestors. Their death was for nothing. We gather to remember and pay honor. While NYS remembers the achievements of Christopher Columbus, we dare to tell the truth the "We Are Still Here." Come join us.
